About Us: Take Control HIV Community
The Take Control HIV Community is a diverse network of advocates encouraging all Pennsylvanians to know their HIV status and pursue treatment if living an HIV positive life. Our primary goal is to reduce new HIV infections and improve the quality of life of all people by breaking down HIV stigmas and other barriers around access to care, including testing and treatment. Across the state of Pennsylvania, our five region-wide community is educating and empowering all to take control of HIV – no matter their HIV status.
Our initiative consists of five partnering organizations:
- AIDSNET (Mideast)
- Family Health Council of Central PA (Southcentral)
- North Central District Aids Coalition (Northcentral)
- PA Thrive Partnership (Formerly NW Alliance, Northwest)
- United Way of Wyoming Valley (Northeast)

Our goals:

Empower individuals who are living with HIV to seek treatment so they can live long, healthy, fulfilling lives.

Educate the public on HIV, available treatment, preventative options to stop the spread of HIV and encourage long term care.
